INTERSPECIFIC COMPETITIONS
In south-eastern Nigeria, in a swamp rain forest there is a coexistance of the dwarf crocodile and Nile monitor lizard species. The crocodile is significantly smaller than the monitor lizards. However crabs are the main prey for both species. The crabs in this environment are not limited so it minimizes the interspecific competition of the two species. But interspecific competition does appear in predation of the monitor lizard towards the dwarf crocodile.
